Sustaining World Spine Care
We ensure ongoing sustainability through various measures:
- Health worker training: Local healthcare practitioners are trained on-site in screening, assessing, and managing non-surgical spinal conditions.
- Medical doctor training: Diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders are provided through medical doctor training.
- Train-the-Trainer program: Practitioners are equipped to pass on skills, expanding care levels and addressing health worker shortages.
- Community education: Educating communities about spinal condition risk factors and early-stage treatment to prevent chronicity's impact.
- Academic scholarships: Offering qualified residents scholarships for primary spine care credentials, with a commitment to supervise WSC clinics upon return.
- Fellowships: Advanced training in spine surgery and relevant medical specialties facilitated at major spine centers.
- Long-term partnership: Collaborating with Ministries of Health and regional health system managers to establish permanent structures for spinal and musculoskeletal care. Host Ministries eventually assume ownership, management, expansion, and sustainability with continued WSC support.
